Brief Tick Boxes

This post is a personal to-do list that I think could help others during a design project. A very quick list, please peruse:

Design process:

Brief: Meet with the client to establish an understanding of the project/deadline and agree on a contract.

Research: Gather info that will help.

Concept: Create based on this newly built knowledge to present initial concepts to the client.

Present: show concepts to the client, mid-way to the deadline is preferable.

Design development: refine artwork for final approval. (InDesign/Photoshop)

Production: send through work to production and sign off

Brief: Establish these before moving on.

  1. The previous branding of the company?

  2. What's the message?

  3. what are company ethics?

  4. Target audience? > where is it now, where are they wanting to go?

  5. What's the direction of the company?

Research: Ask them if you don't know

The Company: What do they do? sell?

Competitors: What do they do differently?

Politics: Is there an agenda?

Social Media: What is their main platform? what do you think they lack?

Consumers: Will they need to consume again?

Technology:

Concepts: Get everything down on paper.

Creative fuel: Take breaks when you have art blocks! immediately!

Reference: Moodboards

Get the rubbish ideas out first > then you should filter them to get the good ideas

Experiment: Make sure it looks good in black and white!

Refinishing & developing initial concepts.

Initial Presentation to Client: Why are you da best?

Show the development: Knowledge

The thought Processes: the client might see something I might see something new.

Design Development: Fine-tune Tweaking part.

Evolve the chosen design: no room for development

Visualization: showing the product in its scenario. e.g app on Logo.

Fine Tuning: no spelling mistakes.

Finalize Print Presets.

Off to Production!

Print proof, make a mini print proof.

Hope this to-do list helps!
